Hey, its Maya! Here are many of my favorite cake designs I have done throughout the years! Scroll down through the cakes if you need design ideas or just want to see my cakes! Remember I have decorated many cakes and I am only showing my best below. It take lots of repetition so keep practicing!
Tips on starting:
make sure cakes layers are cool before stacking
make sure icing texture is at soft peak
stack your layers and make sure to put a good amount of icing in between each layer
do a thin coat on the outside and let that chill till icing is hard, this is called the crumb coat, it doesn’t have to be perfect
then add your last coat of icing and smooth
let cool before adding decoration
Decorating:
practice piping before you actually do it on cake
even if you are beginning, I highly recommend getting piping bags (ziploc bags will not work when using piping tips)
use couplers for small tips so they can fit in piping bag and also so you can switch out different tips!
