The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you’ve ever chased the perfect chocolate chip cookie, the kind with crispy edges, soft centers, puddles of melted chocolate, and just enough salt to make every bite addictive, this is it. This recipe is the result of many test batches, late kitchen nights, and a serious belief that cookies should feel a little magical straight from the oven. It’s simple, cozy, and endlessly reliable, whether you’re baking for friends, celebrations, or just because a cookie craving hits and you’re not about to ignore it!

The Swirl Trick for Picture-Perfect Cookies

If you’re already going through the effort of making the perfect chocolate chip cookies, crisp edges, soft centers, melty chocolate, you might as well keep that perfection going. Right when the cookies come out of the oven and are still warm and soft, grab a round cookie cutter, bowl, or even a mug slightly larger than the cookie. Place it around the cookie and gently swirl. That’s it. In seconds, those rustic edges turn into beautifully round, bakery style cookies. It’s a small step, but it takes your cookies from “wow” to “are you sure these aren’t from a bakery?”

I love all cookies, give me stuffed, frosted, fancy flavors you name it, but there is something about a classic that can never be beat. Chocolate chip cookies are truly one of the best creations ever, the kind of dessert that works for every mood, season, and occasion. They’re nostalgic, comforting, and somehow always exactly what you want. They also forever remind me of the iconic Friends episode where Phoebe finally “discovers” her family’s treasured French recipe from her great-grandmother, Nestle Tollhouse (said in the most serious fake French accent, obviously). Proof that the classics stick around for a reason, and sometimes the best recipes are the ones we have always loved!

Why I Measure in Grams (and You Might Want To, Too)

If youโ€™ve ever made the same recipe twice and gotten two totally different results, the measuring method is often the reason.

Professional bakeries almost always measure by weight, not volume. Measuring cups leave room for inconsistencyโ€”especially with ingredients that pack differently depending on how you scoop or pour them. A scale removes all of that guesswork.

One of the biggest offenders is sugar. Different sugars (and even the same sugar measured by different people) can vary wildly in volume, but 100 grams is always 100 grams. Measuring by weight gives you repeatable, bakery-consistent results and cuts down on extra dishes at the same time.

A food scale is one of the best (and most affordable) investments you can make for your kitchen if you love baking and want your recipes to turn out exactly the same every time.

  1. I recently made these and they looked amazing, only problem is i could taste a bit too much molasses. Overall amazing cookies just the taste is a bit off.

  2. Amazing recipe! I recommend browning the butter. Make sure when your browning the butter, you let it cool and before adding it to the sugar, and make sure that mixture is cooled before adding the dry ingredients. If itโ€™s too hot, the sugar melts and the dough becomes oily and crumbly. To fix this, store in the fridge for about 30 minutes until the dough is cool, then bake. Overall, these were amazing! Browning butter adds a nutty flavor that is absolutely delicious. I recommend this recipe to everyone.

  3. My go-to favorite chocolate chip cookie! They are a staple since I found this. Browning the butter is next level! Recommend!!!!!
