Ingredients
 
 

  • 8 medjool dates pitted
  • 1/4 cup water warm
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Soften the dates.
  2. Place pitted dates in a bowl and pour warm water over them. Let sit for 2–5 minutes to soften.
  3. Step 2: Blend.
  4. Add the dates with the soaking water to a blender. Add maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  5. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of warm water until it reaches a thick, pourable consistency.
  6. Step 3: Strain (optional).
  7. For extra smooth syrup, strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove any small bits.
  8. Store in the fridge for up to one week.
