Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Nostalgia in Every Bite

These mini chocolate chip cookies are basically the homemade, upgraded version of the Trader Joes mini cookie bins we loved as kids. I remember grabbing them whenever our cousins came into town, they were always a special treat. But these? They’re even better: softer, chewier, and just a little more delicious, giving you that same fun, bit sized cookie joy with a homemade touch that makes them impossible to resist!

Why I Measure in Grams

…and you might want to, too

If youโ€™ve ever made the same recipe twice and gotten two totally different results, the measuring method is often the reason.

Professional bakeries almost always measure by weight, not volume. Measuring cups leave room for inconsistencyโ€”especially with ingredients that pack differently depending on how you scoop or pour them. A scale removes all of that guesswork.

One of the biggest offenders is sugar. Different sugars (and even the same sugar measured by different people) can vary wildly in volume, but 100 grams is always 100 grams. Measuring by weight gives you repeatable, bakery-consistent results and cuts down on extra dishes at the same time.

  • Flakey sea salt

Method

Step 1: Preheat
  1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (convection) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Cream butter & sugar

Step 4: Add dry ingredients
  1. Add the all-purpose flour and baking powder, then gently fold in the chocolate chips or chunks just until incorporated.
