Matcha Mushroom Latte

Matcha mushroom lattes have officially become Livia’s new favorite obsession. Personally, I am not a big matcha fan, however, sweetened into this beautiful drink, it actually tastes quite good for a non-matcha lover! What started as a fun little wellness drink turned into a daily routine, however we always switch between this and the cacao mushroom coffee because you just cannot go wrong with either! It tastes like the perfect cafe treat while still being packed with wholesome ingredients and getting all the benefits of healthy caffeine boost, matcha greens, and mushroom benefits!

Endlessly Customizable

One of the best parts about it is how versatile it is. You can tweak it depending on your mood, the flavor profile you are craving, or even the kind of protein powder you’re using that week. You can make it hot and cozy or pour it over ice for something refreshing and smooth. Personally, I am almost always a hot drink person, but this iced? It’s on a whole other level, creamy, refreshing, and somehow even more satisfying. And if you’re in a coffee over matcha phase, you can easily swap it in, and it works just as beautifully. It’s one of those drinks that adapts to whatever mood you’re in, which makes it feel new and exciting every single time.

If you’re trying to lean more into whole foods and healthier options but still love a good, sweet treat, this is such an easy win. It tastes delicious and perfectly sweet, but it’s naturally nourishing and leaves you feeling genuinely good instead of sluggish. The addition of mushroom blend and matcha greens brings so many wellness benefits, and you can honestly feel the difference. It’s the kind of drink that feels supportive, not just satisfying. My sister (who is minoring in medicine, literature, and culture) is always telling me about herbal remedies and the benefits of teas and plant-based ingredients. I’ll admit, I’m usually a bit skeptical at first, but I’ve never been let down. Whether I’m feeling run down or already at my best, I always notice I feel better, more balanced, more energized, and just overall good. And if you’re just getting started with healthier habits, this is such a great place to begin because its genuinely taste amazing and feels just like a treat!

Why I Measure in Grams (and You Might Want To, Too)

If youโ€™ve ever made the same recipe twice and gotten two totally different results, the measuring method is often the reason.

Professional bakeries almost always measure by weight, not volume. Measuring cups leave room for inconsistencyโ€”especially with ingredients that pack differently depending on how you scoop or pour them. A scale removes all of that guesswork.

One of the biggest offenders is sugar. Different sugars (and even the same sugar measured by different people) can vary wildly in volume, but 100 grams is always 100 grams. Measuring by weight gives you repeatable, bakery-consistent results and cuts down on extra dishes at the same time.

A food scale is one of the best (and most affordable) investments you can make for your kitchen if you love baking and want your recipes to turn out exactly the same every time.

โ™ฌ Jazz Mood – Lady-M

Once you have all of the ingredients ready to go, you’re officially set up for Matcha mushroom Latte success. I always recommend measuring everything out ahead of time so the process is smoother, and you can focus on making the best drink possible!

Ingredients

  • 1 serving matcha powder
  • 1 cup milk (or 1 scoop protein powder + 1 cup water)
  • 1 tbsp date syrup (or honey/maple syrup)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp mushroom powder
  • your choice herbs (optional, but such an easy way to sneak in your favorite herb tinctures!)

Method

Step 1: Make the Matcha Base
  1. Add 1 cup milk to a blender cup or large mug. You can also use water & protein powder for a higher protein option. Starting with the liquid first helps the matcha blend smoothly without clumping.
Step 2: Add the Matcha + Warm Spices
  1. Add 1โ€“2 tsp matcha powder, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla extract.
  2. The cinnamon adds warmth while the vanilla gives it that cozy, lightly sweet cafรฉ-style flavor.
Step 3: Add the Mushroom Powder + Extras
  1. Mix in 1โ€“2 tsp mushroom powder along with any herbs or plant extracts you enjoy.
  2. Start with a smaller amount of mushroom powder if youโ€™re new to it, then adjust to taste over time.
Step 4: Sweeten It
  1. Add date syrup to taste.
  2. You can always add more after blending depending on how sweet you like your latte.
Step 5: Blend or Froth Until Creamy
  1. Blend for about 15โ€“30 seconds until smooth and frothy.
  2. If using a milk frother, froth for 30โ€“45 seconds until the matcha is fully combined and creamy.
Step 6: Taste + Customize
  1. Give it a quick taste and adjust as needed.
  2. Add more matcha for a stronger earthy flavor, extra date syrup for sweetness, or more milk if you want it creamier. This is also the perfect step to experiment with different herbal blends or functional extracts.
Step 7: Serve + Enjoy
  1. Pour over ice for a refreshing iced latte, or gently warm it for a cozy hot version. Froth once more before serving for an extra creamy finish.
